Baked Sliced Potatoes
WARNING: You are going to have to make these frequently once you start!
Oven Temp: 400ºF
Baking Time: 25 - 30 minutes (but see tips)
Serves: 4 (but see tips)
Ingredients
- 4 large baking potatoes
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
- 1/4 cup salad oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
- 1/2 to 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves
Preparation
- Cut unpeeled potatoes into 1/4" thick slices. Place overlapping slices in buttered 15" x 9" baking dish.
- Mix butter and oil. Brush slices with mixture. Pour remaining over p0tatoes. Sprinkle with garlic, salt and thyme.
- Bake at 400ºF for 25 to 30 minutes or until potatoes are done and browned at edges.
- Serve immediately.
Tips: Above you have the original recipe. We have never made this as a full recipe - probably because we prefer to have
crispier potatoes. We always half this recipe AND cut them into 1/8" slices (to serve 4). Then we cook the potatoes 40 minutes.
If you want to prepare potatoes ahead of time, slice and place them in cold water until ready to bake.
Then drain very well, blot dry, place in pan and bake.
